About Therapy With Me

Different Worlds, the Same Thing Underneath

Over the years I’ve sat with military officers, corporate leaders, first responders, doctors, teachers, ballerinas, parents, couples, and plenty of therapists (yes, therapists see therapists too).

Different worlds, different pressures, the same need underneath: someone who can catch the pattern fast and help you do something with it.

That’s the part that comes most naturally to me.

I Think in Patterns and Formulas

Give me a little time and I’m already noticing the shape of what you’re describing: where it repeats, where it shifts, what’s driving it.

I’ll name that pattern out loud, and I’ll often hand it back to you as a formula more than a metaphor: when X happens, you do Y, which leads to Z.

Clean, memorable, and yours to keep. Something you can hold onto on a hard day, when the last thing you need is to rebuild a complicated idea from scratch.

When a Formula Won’t Fit, I’ll Paint a Picture

Not everything fits a formula, and it shouldn’t. Some things I’ll paint more like a picture instead: a scene, an image, a feeling with texture to it.

I use whichever one will actually stick with you.

I Lead, but You Set the Direction

I move quickly, catching what’s helping you faster than you expect. And I’m not shy about steering us there.

But this is your therapy, not mine. I follow your goals.

My job is to bring the pace and the pattern-recognition. Yours is to tell me what better looks like for you.

We Laugh. Then We Get Serious. Then We Laugh Again.

Therapy doesn’t have to be heavy the whole way through to be real.

In a single session we’ll laugh about something absurd, then turn straight into the hardest thing you’re carrying, then find our way back to something lighter.

That rhythm is the work. It’s also what makes the room feel comfortable enough for the harder parts to happen at all.

What You’ll Leave With

My goal every session is simple: you leave better than you walked in.

Better isn’t the same as fixed. Steadier. Clearer.

Carrying something you can actually use: a pattern you now recognize, an image that reframes the moment you’re in, a formula you can run through your head at 2am.

About Elizabeth Guinea, LMHC

Before I was a therapist, I spent 12 years as a classroom teacher.

That’s where the formulas started. Teaching is the daily work of taking something complicated and making it clear, organized, and easy to carry out of the room.

I never really stopped doing it. It’s the same instinct I bring to session now.

Three Continents, the Same Human Pattern

For more than 15 years I’ve worked as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and I’ve done that work on three continents. As a military spouse, I’ve practiced in the United States, Germany, and Romania, in both English and Spanish, with people whose lives looked nothing like each other’s: hunters and vegans, conservatives and career soldiers, families a world apart in what they believed.

What all of it taught me is simple: fears and patterns are remarkably similar across cultures. Once you’ve sat with enough people from enough different worlds, judgment stops being useful and recognition takes over. I’ve probably already met a version of what you’re bringing in.

Therapy That’s Built to End

The way I work reflects that. We’ll track your progress with regular check-ins, review your goals as we go, and give you things to practice between sessions.

I’m not looking to keep you in therapy forever. I’m working to make myself unnecessary.

Come Find Your Pattern

If you want a therapist who will help you make sense of things fast, meet you exactly where your goals are, and hand you tools sturdy enough to reach for in a crisis, I’d love to get to work with you.

Email me at contact@elizabethguinealmhc.com to set up a complimentary 15-minute consultation. We’ll spend it on what’s actually going on and where you want to take it.

You’re Closer to Change Than It Feels

You’ve been intelligent about this for a long time. Understanding was never the missing piece. A plan is.

Let’s build yours. In a free consultation, we’ll talk through what keeps circling back on you and map out a way forward.
